TRUDY CHAPMAN
Senior Consultant
Trudy Chapman, President of Chapman Communications, is an expert in the field of strategic communications, with a multi-dimensional background in journalism (CBC Radio and freelance writing), government communications, and association and industry work.
Trudy has created crisis contingency plans for industry associations and worked on crisis communications planning for a variety of scenarios, including the Avian Influenza outbreak.
At the Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission (CNSC) Trudy developed communications and outreach strategies for new build nuclear plants and for the Nuclear Legacy Liabilities Program for Natural Resources Canada. While a federal employee at Natural Resources Canada, Trudy was the lead Canadian communications officer on the Canada-US Power System Outage Task Force. At the Department of Fisheries and Oceans Trudy has supported the Annual General Meetings of the Aboriginal Policy and Governance Directorate for four years running and facilitated multiple workshops in relation to the Species at Risk Acton Aboriginal Lands in Canada.
While energy is a specialty, other clients have included the forestry, chicken and steel industries, industry associations, and not-for-profit organizations. Trudy has also worked with a number of Human Resources Sector Councils including the Electricity Sector Council and Canadian Trucking Human Resources Council. She has also worked with a number of federal departments and agencies including Natural Resources Canada, Parks Canada, Indian and Northern Affairs, Health Canada and the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA).
