J.A. GORDON BOOTH
Senior Consultant
Gordon Booth's Public Service experience was gained in a variety of regional, headquarters and central agency positions at security clearance levels up to and including Secret.
He began his career in government as an Institutional Psychologist with the then Canadian Penitentiary Service and subsequently fulfilled the roles of Head, Research Programs and Projects and Personnel Psychologist with the Employment and Immigration Commission. He planned, organized and conducted evaluation and research projects and directed the work of consultants while serving as a Civilian Member of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police. While on secondment from Treasury Board Secretariat (TBS) to Training and Development Canada (Public Service Commission), Mr. Booth designed and developed the training course on the Managing Government Information Holdings policy and then conducted several pilot sessions. In addition, he served as instructor for the Access to Information, Privacy and Communications courses.
As a Senior Project Officer with TBS, he developed a series of seminars and workshops on information management and communications for delivery to departmental specialists. While with the Correctional Service, he worked on behalf of the Council for Administrative Renewal to enunciate training and change management strategies related to the introduction of computer technology into the workplace. Project completed, he rejoined TBS to supervise the development of an index to federal government databases, a compendium of communications training courses in Canada, and assist with the elaboration of a guide to publishing for the Government of Canada. The highlight of Mr. Booth's most recent period of employment came when he concluded a copyright agreement between the Government of Canada and Canada's newspaper industry; concluded and implemented a government-wide licence agreement for the computer-assisted capture and distribution of newspaper clippings used as part of departmental and agency media monitoring services; and negotiated revisions to the Licence for the reprographic reproduction of published works subject to copyright with two of Canada's copyright collectives.
